It’s funny but I just assume all my friends know each other.  Then I’m surprised to realize they don’t know who I’m talking about.

Robyn’s latest children’s book Philo & Sophy is available for sale. Written by Joseph Ulrich the book tells the story of Philo and Sophy. This two children don’t know one another but share a common yearning to answer life’s biggest questions.

As I mentioned in my lulu review: “This is a charming insightful story that is both fun and thought provoking. I did a spotlight on Robyn’s work for this book back in April 1st and it is recently that  she finished the last color revision on the final version. It’s a lot of work to get this things to print right I tell you.

This is the third and final fully illustrated story from my newest book Monstrosity. The goal here was to create a spooky giant monster story. In it, I did a few different things from the previous two.

For one I went into a more elaborate process where I did detailed thumbnails, scaled and traced on large 10 x 15 inch comic pages. I had not worked that big since college. Supposed to make your errors seem smaller when you shrink down.

Me? I just wanted to try something new. I used brushes pigment pens and dreaded sharpie markers.

Almost went blind.

This is story that made the whole project feel like a real giant monster that had to be defeated with lots and lots of hard work.

I was also writing notes for Auriga in Spanish. Feel like these sketches keep it safe but when I was drawing I made him sleeker and more exaggerated.  Scale also changed as I drew but stayed within the general spec.  Here are some translations:

• Espinas- Spines. These shoot out from his thorax.
• El Rayo- The Ray
• No Sangra se rompe  como plastico- It doesn’t bleed it breaks like plastic.
• Piel- Skin.
• Ojos- Eyes.
• Auriga el monstruo del espacio (300 metros)- Auriga the monster from space (300 meters).
